SJP has officially been reinstated at Brown in a long-awaited moment of justice. After months of confusion and silence from administrators, the icon herself returned to campus this Tuesday to a crowd of adoring fans and emotional students.
I’ll be honest—I never thought she should’ve been suspended in the first place. She has every right to be here. She’s part of this community. Her son goes here. Frankly, I didn’t even know that non-students could be suspended in the first place. Plus, Carrie Bradshaw went to Brown. Let’s have some respect for our alumni!
Her reinstatement hasn’t come without controversy. Many are saying that the administration hoped her return would distract from the hellscape that college campuses are becoming. Whatever the case, SJP is back in full force.
Students packed into Salomon to witness her long-awaited return. I overheard one student say, “She’s back. Finally.” Another wiped away a single tear. At the end of the talk, she smiled softly and said, “Thank you for having me. Through these uncertain times, I have overcome.” The crowd erupted. I don’t know what comes next, but after Tuesday, one thing is undeniable: SJP is here to stay.
