There is nothing quite as satisfying as being a teaching assistant. I’ve wanted to be a TA since I first came to Brown, both because I want to be a professor one day and because I’m power-hungry (Me, grade papers? Sign me up). I love to connect with the youth, solidify my understanding of course material, and accrue Brown Admirers posts. Oops, silly autocorrect! I meant, “incite passion in my students.”
No, it’s not easy. Sometimes I worry that my students are going to ask questions that I don’t know the answers to. And I work long hours. Every day I answer multitudes of emails, grade papers, and catch people staring at me on the street. They’re all, “Is that her?” And I’m like “Can’t a girl ever get some privacy?” And then I flip my hair and continue on my way to whatever ~very important~ event I’m off to.
People love TA’s. Everyone’s had a crush on a TA (and if you haven’t, what are you concentrating in, and how quickly can you get out of there?). You see, TA’s have a certain air about them. They’re mysterious. They’re smart. And, goddamn, they are so attractive.
That’s right – you heard me. We know that we’re hot. You know what? Let’s just leave our pretenses at the door and be straight with one another for a minute. We’re hot and we love it. Have you seen the way we carry ourselves around the classroom? Have you noticed that we sit right up front so everyone can get an eyeful? You think we applied for this job just because we’re “passionate” and “dedicated” and “love the subject?” Please. I know I’m a hot TA. That is my confession.
But, of course, because as of right now my sample size is 1 (ha ha, science), and no one wants to hear only what I have to say, I decided to interview another smoking hot TA. Names have been redacted to add to the ~mystery~.
So you’re ridiculously good-looking and smart. Would you say that you’re just, I don’t know, better than other people?
1000%. Whenever I see ordinary people (plebes), I wonder how they got so lucky. They not only breathe the same air as me, but also just live in a world where I exist. It is so hard to exist in a world where almost everyone you meet cannot compare to how amazing, beautiful, fantastic, and gorgeous you are! Sometimes I just want to scream! Only when I’m with other TAs do I feel like I’ve met an equal, you know?
Why did you apply to be a TA?
Sometimes, when I sit in my room, I feel guilty. During those moments alone, I am denying more people the chance to experience me, and that is just not fair. So, I thought to myself, “How can I share my presence with people in a way that they can both see and talk to me?” TA a class of course!
What advice do you have for those who are afraid to approach their TA’s because they’re just so dazzlingly beautiful?
I understand. It’s like how do you approach someone who shines with the intensity of a thousand suns? Usually hot people are mean and rude, but every now and again the world is given beautiful people who are kind and caring. That is us! We want to share our beauty, style, and grace with you. So just walk on over and say hi! In the words of one of the greatest super heroes of all time, “Doesn’t matter where, doesn’t matter when. We will be there for you ‘til the very end. In danger, or trouble, we’re here on the double – you know that you always can call your TA’s! Call us, beep us, if you want to reach us!”
And with those incredibly original words, I will take my leave of you all. I’m important and busy and have no time to impart more wisdom upon you. Don’t be too upset by my absence, though. If you really want to see me, just come to class.
