An article from the New York Times recently reported that Dolly Parton donated $1 million dollars for COVID- 19 vaccine research to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which worked with Moderna to help develop the COVID- 19 vaccine. Moderna’s vaccine is now reported to be over 94% effective.
In addition to resistance from a deadly virus, those who receive the Moderna vaccine will be given a free ticket to Dollywood, Parton’s theme park in Tennessee. A volunteer from the Moderna trials was recently quoted saying, “I don’t know what I’m more excited about, not having to constantly worry about my loved ones’ lives being at risk, or getting to ride the Smokey Mountain River Rampage.” The promotion is even helping to change the minds of those skeptical about receiving the vaccine. One Tennessee resident was quoted as saying, “I don’t trust vaccines, but I do trust Dolly with my life.” Dr. Anthony Fauci has also said, “You know what, maybe Dolly should have my job.”
The trials have shown no serious, negative side effects thus far. On the contrary, the only side effects reported have been an increase in hair volume and breast size.
It has also been reported that Parton will play a role in organizing distribution of the vaccine. As of now, the order of distribution is as follows:
- First responders and emergency workers
- Elderly and immunocompromised individuals
- Adults and children
- Jolene
- Jolene
- Jolene
- Joleeeeene
