a gay’s first blundstone – a poem

look through the window

and what do i see?

rows of gay footwear

staring back at me

with her in the center:

a cinderella slipper

in the form of a black leather boot

blundstone

on the phone

i tell my friend

today’s my day

to embrace the gay

(although slipping into this slipper

did involve

a bit of jamming

and yelling

in the middle of a discount shoe store)

and then there i was

foot in blundstone

thrust into myself

as if for the first time

i walk on the backs

of all the lesbians

that hath come before me

and i am whole once more
