If you’re not watching the current season of Saturday Night Live because you’re still mourning the departure of Kristen Wiig, you have been missing out. Yes, Fred Armisen, Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte, and Andy Samberg are just some of the recently departed cast members who originally were what made me love SNL, but Season 40’s cast is killing it. Who doesn’t love Vanessa Bayer’s “Jacob the Bar Mitzvah Boy” or Kate McKinnon’s Ellen Degeneres and Justin Bieber impersonations? And hello, Tarran Killam! Stuck in the Suburbs throwback anyone?
But my current favorite person/home girl is Little Baby Aidy – or Aidy Bryant for you less devout fans. She is the definition of a bad bitch – which she refers to herself as on her very aesthetically pleasing Instagram account. In her must-watch reprised role, she plays betrayed and ignored co-host Morgan, of “Girlfriend’s Talk Show.” In the skit, her “BFF” literally lets her down and betrays her constantly. In real life, Aidy is just living the dream. She was both a writer and performer at Second City. She even made a guest appearance on Girls, which, for me, is like officially “making it big.” I feel like Lena Dunham wanting you is equivalent to finally hooking up with the guy you’ve been eye flirting from across the room for a whole night – success! Seriously though, Aidy Bryant is my favorite. We just relate on so many levels. And by so many levels I mean we both enjoy comedy, even though she’s a professional comedian and I am a self-proclaimed comedian, and that we also both went to all-girls high schools. We’re practically twins. Anyway, you all better keep an eye out for her! You heard it here first.
